Hello friends! Hope you are enjoying your day and staying inside where it's warm
and crafting your heart out like I am! :)
I would like to write about a few things concerning my interest in CAS...if you are NOT interested in my thoughts or comments about it,
then please just scroll down to my photos for what I did today.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A STUDY OF CAS:
What is CAS? - Clean & Simple "stamping" to the lakers
It is basically a style of stamping that has little or no embellishments - that's right!...NO flowers, charms, extra ribbons, fancy edges, tons of pearls and lots of layers, papers, etc.
It has CLEAN lines...meaning wide open spaces...no need to fill each and every bare spot there is! :)
It doesn't have lots of fancy layers or embellishments on the design...clean and simple...
You may enjoy this type of style yourself or this may be something that you absolutely REFUSE to do like I used to be!! LOL! Yep...never wanted to go down THAT road!
Well, I've actually been VERY intrigued with this type of style for the last several months, but was too afraid to post anything that I made because after all, we are our own worst critics! :)
I've also noticed that it is popping up here and there even more now in my "blog world" and I think it is actually becoming more popular lately. (Which is good because it gives me even more "learning experience" from other CAS crafters with this type of design.)
I have always been one to jump right in with a new technique and learn something new.
For some reason, CAS has always evaded me and I didn't feel confident with it....but again, so intrigued!
I always struggled to "over come" the needing to "..just add this..." or "cover that open space!".
I slowly realized that it is a matter of style and not just being simple or plain. I actually spend quite a bit of time (more than you'd think) creating a CAS card!
I just "don't do" the 10 minute make...I have never rushed with anything and would be stressed out thinking that I had only a matter of minutes to come up with something...that's not how I operate at all.
To me, the style of CAS is a technique. Meaning, that I am learning a new technique with my crafting and I would like to be able to evolve it some more.
Don't get me wrong now!! I will STILL continue to do my "fussy and fancy" designs like you have normally been used to with me, but from time to time...and now with being on a CAS DT...I will be posting some designs that I've made with this style. I hope you'll give it a try too!! :)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So what have I made CAS for you today?!
I have decided to pull out my Stampin' Up! hostess set "CARRY ON" set and mix it up a bit!
LOL!! I decided to take this stamp set and pair it with an old rubber stamp that I bought a while back at a store for really cheap. So it was fun to combine different images together to come up with something a bit different than what was offered in the set.
I have placed an embossing strip across the middle of the card for a subtle design element.
The color of the base card (Raspberry Ripple) was brought about with the middle color of the olive and wording. I added a touch of sparkle to the liquid too.
The image panel layered with black is also popped out from the base of the card.
I would like to add this card to a few challenges:

Clean and simple doesn't mean fast and easy...most of my CAS designs take a LONG time because layout and placement are so important. I love your CAS design Vicki...I don't think you'll have any trouble at all! :)
Don't know why you fret, anything you create is outstanding! Your card today is wonderful, fun and definitely CAS!

Vicki, what a great description of the CAS style...you are so right, it is not as easy as it may seem when you actually get down to trying it! Your card, however, is a great example of CAS sweetness...the sentiment with the martini is super fun, and the embossing adds interest, too! Thanks for joining us at CASology this week!
